Taking Responsibility
"It is important to acknowledge a mistake instantly, correct it, and learn from it. That literally turns a failure into a success. Success is on the far side of failure."T.J. Watson
How easily can you acknowledge a mistake? I believe taking responsibility for all that takes place in our lives has a significant effect on our success. If we blame others and outside circumstances we are putting ourselves in a victim role and denying the power we have to create the life we desire. To take responsibility when we make an error and acknowledge that by apologising where necessary is uncomfortable, however pretending that we had nothing to do with it by blaming is being untruthful to ourselves and somewhere deep down inside we know that. This creates unrest and imbalance within.
The other side to not taking responsibility is to take too much. By taking more responsibility for a situation than is yours to take you deny the other person the opportunity of learn from their mistakes.
In any given situation when there is conflict or misunderstanding of some kind , each person will always have the opportunity to learn something. When all concerned are willing to take responsibility for their piece, wonderful outcomes can come about. If the other person is not willing to own their part you still only need to own yours and leave the door of opportunity open for the other person, them taking responsibility is not your concern. Remember the only person we can change is ourselves.
How have you experienced this in your life? I would love to hear your perspective on responsibility.
Till next time Namaste.
